In Nina Schuyler's (M.A., '03) first novel, "The Painting" (Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill, 2004), a young woman escapes the confines of an unhappy marriage in Tokyo by painting memories of her true love on mulberry paper, an image which transforms the lives of two people when it winds up in a Paris import shop.

Photojournalist Cindy Karp(B.A., '73) captures an endangered ecosystem in "Everglades Forever: Restoring America's Great Wetland" (Lee & Low Books, 2004). The photo essay aims to inspire young readers to protect the grand natural area.

Scott Landers(M.F.A., '03) explores the changes that can happen when venturing into the unknown in "Coswell's Guide to Tambralinga" (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2004). The novel details the second honeymoon of Conrad and Lucy Shermer, who set off on separate adventures after a terrible fight.

"Giants: Where Have You Gone?" (Sports Publishing LLC, 2005) by Matt Johanson(B.A., '93) and Wylie Wong(B.A., '93) updates Giants fans on the lives of former players and includes commentary from Felipe Alou, Dusty Baker, Lon Simmons and Hank Greenwald.

"Get Hired Now! A 28-Day Program for Landing the Job You Want" (Bay Tree Publishing, 2005), co-authored by business coach C.J. Hayden (B.A., 86), focuses on the components of a successful job search including staying motivated in the face of frustration and rejection.
