Michael Krasny at the lecturn in class.

A Double Life:
SFSU English Professor since 1970
Host of KQED-FM's "Forum" show since 1988

Education:
B.A. and M.A., Ohio University
Ph.D., University of Wisconsin

Challenging moments on the air:
When The Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia pulled out narcotics in the KQED studio. Krasny politely asked him to put his cocaine away. The time Betty Friedan threw off her headphones and walked out of a live interview. Krasny calmed her down and coaxed her back into her seat.

Cause for celebration:
Krasny kicked off SFSU's yearlong centennial celebration with a live show at a University retreat for faculty, staff and administrators in January 1999. He celebrated his 15th anniversary with "Forum" in March 2003.
