SFSU Tops in Getting Out the Vote

Any SFSU student who didn't cast a ballot in the 2004 presidential election would be hard pressed to come up with a good excuse. With panel discussions and voter registration drives on campus, the University continues to seek out innovative and effective methods to encourage students to vote.

In September, a survey of U.S. college campuses gave SFSU top billing for these and other voter registration efforts.

Conducted by Harvard University's Institute of Politics and the Chronicle of Higher Education, the survey pointed to the work of SFSU President Robert A. Corrigan, who reminds students, faculty and staff members via e-mail to make sure that they register and vote. The survey also took note of ballot receipt promotions held on campus.

Best of all, no one has to go far to cast a vote. The University has its own precinct and polling place on campus.
