The professor's articles have appeared in magazines such as Psychology Today, in which he outlined 10 necessary principles for change, and Horse and Rider, in which he shared how his view of life changed atop a horse at a dude ranch. Goldberg's essay on his work as a hospice volunteer was among 19 entries worldwide selected for a 2004 Power of Purpose Essay Award. Stanley Goldberg, a professor of special education with a Ph.D. in speech pathology, has spent the past 25 years treating people with speech, language and learning problems. In workshops he conducts for adults whose lives have suddenly and traumatically changed, he maintains that one can navigate through even the darkest moments to find new inspiration.
